Jan Matthews was called in 1972 having earlier qualified as a Chartered Accountant. A highly experienced practitioner with wide commercial expertise, he has an extensive practice, largely advisory in nature, in the fields of private client work, trusts (offshore & onshore), partnerships, landed estates, small to medium sized companies and land development projects. Typically, these matters involve the interaction of all the major direct taxes, in addition to indirect taxes. He combines academic rigour with a practical approach to solving tax problems, providing elegant and ingenious solutions for his clients. He is standing tax counsel to the UK 200 group of practising accountants.
