CHAMBERS WELCOMES CHINESE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TAXATION

Chambers were very pleased to welcome 25 senior government taxation officials from the states of Guangdong and Guangxi today as part of a Chinese Government training programme.
The party were welcomed by Zizhen Yang, before listening to Graham Aaronson QC speaking in relation to the principles for structuring an effective tax collection framework. Rupert Baldry QC followed, with a presentation on appeals and litigation procedure and Jeremy White concluded the day with a talk on auditing strategies that are applicable when considering Customs Duties in relation to multi-national companies.
Nigel Jones, Senior Clerk, said “We were delighted to be the only Chambers approached by the Chinese Government and saw this as an excellent opportunity to forge links with the two states that are right at the heart of China’s financial and industrial base”.
