Government Legal Department Panel Promotions

We are delighted to announce that the Attorney General has promoted Laura Poots to the A panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown and Ben Elliott to the B panel. The appointments are effective for 5 years from 1st September. Places on the Government Legal Department (GLD) panels are highly sought after as they allow Barristers to take instructions from Government departments. The work is usually important and sensitive, often involving matters of policy and/or large sums of money. A panellists deal with the most complex government cases, often appearing against QC’s. Members of the B panel deal with significant cases and will generally be instructed where knowledge and experience of a particular field is required.
